Clarifications and corrections

We published an article on 1 August with the headline ‘Covid cases fall for the ELEVENTH day in a row: Infections drop AGAIN by 16% in a week to 24,470 and deaths stay low at 65’. We are happy to make clear that the eleven-day fall in infections was intended to refer to a comparison with the previous week, and the headline has been amended to avoid any ambiguity. We apologise for any confusion which may have been caused.
